Are you bored with the bustle and city life? Is it too hot for you within the city walls? Are you up for relaxing in the bosom of nature or gettting some exercise?
Take into consideration our weekend trips and excursions near Cracow!
A nice place to see, which is located next to Cracow, is Niepołomice. This little town, loved by Polish kings in the past, is tempting with its XIV century royal castle, renovated market square, gardens of queen Bona, walks through the primeval forest and delicious home made ice cream. Just perfect for one lovely Sunday afternoon.
An interesting place, also situated near Cracov, is Dobczyce. Apart from a castle located on a high rock, with a breathtaking view of a lake, in the town you can also admire an open air museum of a Polish village and historical parish church.
For those who prefer more active holidays, we recommend a trip to the nearby mountains. From Rabka, situated only 40 km from Cracow, there are many hiking trails to the picturesque Gorce Mountains. A little bit further (2 hours by bus from Cracow), starting in a town called Szczawnica, you can take a route named Sokola Perć to the highest peack, Trzy Korony, with a magnificent panorama of the Tatra Mountains and the valley of the Dunajec River. Those, who do not enjoy hiking, can try rafting on the Dunajec River – the oldest organized tourist attraction in Poland.
Finally, something for water sports lovers. Only 2 hours by bus from Cracow is enough to reach Tresna, where you can rent a boat and sail on the beautiful Żywieckie Lake. For adventurers, there is also an option to try windsurfing, what is left for lazy ones is to try water bikes :).
Just remember, the further you are from Cracow, the bigger chance you will only speak Polish, or possibly in a local dialect. But it is a piece of cake for you! ;)
